We have a proud history of Corporate Social Responsibility. In 1985, Q8 pioneered the introduction of unleaded fuel in Europe and in 2012, launched the world’s most sustainable service station.
The Tango station is a special project created in collaboration with the city of The Hague. The canopy has a modern green roof which does not merely offer a nice view but also entails a high insulation. Additionally, the led lighting ensures a good visibility, feeling of safety and strong savings.
OKQ8 has added to its growing network of world-leading sustainable filling stations by launching a sustainable fuel station at Landvetter, in the new trade area Airport City. This is the first of its kind to open in West Sweden and OKQ8’s fourth station with a clear sustainability profile. Designed to minimise its impact on the environment, the Landvetter station consumes half as much energy as a traditional service station. It is constructed of sustainable materials with a framework of glulam (glued laminated timber) beams instead of steel. Its many environmental features include a sedum covered roof, solar panels and high speed rechargers for electric cars. As well as traditional fuels, it sells renewable fuels including Diesel Bio+, electricity and, in partnership with Eon, gas (CHG).

NSRP is working closely with the government of Vietnam to ensure that thousands of families in the area surrounding the project benefit from improved homes and work, and sustain a strong community. Better housing is being provided for people relocated by the project and since 2013, consultations have been going on regarding the type of new home they would like. However, resettlement goes far beyond just housing; restoring livelihoods must be considered as jobs such as fishing and farming may no longer be available. This is particularly challenging because people’s work in these traditional roles was as much a way of life as a source of income. NSRP has dedicated a team to help the community thrive through long-term programmes based on self-sufficiency and sustainability.
NSRP recognises the importance of training and education. Training is provided to help people take advantage of opportunities available during the construction phase, while longer-term educational support and scholarships are offered to help young people develop careers related to the future requirements of the project and economic zone. It is also helping to re-direct agricultural activity. Community gardening, improved techniques, and organic, high-value crops are backed by business-skills training to help exploit local and emerging markets. NSRP is also providing grants for community projects to improve living conditions, quality of life and social interaction. By working hand-in-hand with communities affected by resettlement, NSRP is helping residents secure a richer and more fulfilling future.

OKQ8 Scandinavia believes it is important to fight long-term youth unemployment. In 2014, we started the initiative Ung på väg aimed at getting more young people in Sweden into employment. In collaboration with The Swedish Public Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen), hundreds of internships have been offered each year. The participants all are under the age of 25 and have been un-employed for a longer period. The three-month internship offers invaluable experience for future employment; we see that many go on to a permanent employment, may it be within OKQ8 or some other organization.
Q8 in Denmark is a part of a similar initiative called Bryd Unges Ledighed Nu! The purpose of the initiative is to improve the self-confidence among young adults by the age of 15 to 30. An important aspect is of course also to create job opportunities. This is primarily made possible through a mentorship program where participants meet business professionals and companies in need of labour. The initiative has created many opportunities in form of internships, trainings and employments.
Q8 has a strong culture of continuous improvement and every part of our business is focused on enhancing performance. We constantly seek ways to improve the service we offer our customers and to achieve this in an efficient way that increases revenue or reduce costs.
Our performance enhancement programe drives a host of improvement across the company to achieve ambitious targets. Proven methodologies such as Six Sigma are used to identify the best solutions and ensure their long term sustainability.
As a part of this drive, Q8 has achieved accreditation in a comprehensive range of ISO standards; these provide a benchmark to achieve even greater efficiency and constantly enhance our standards of service and levels of environmental protection.
